Our Committees

Are comprised of highly distinguished members who volunteer their time for the benefit of our membership.

 

Good Citizenship Committee

Chairman

 

The Good Citizenship Committee is responsible for promoting and recognizing good citizenship that does not fall within domain of another committee.

Revolutionary Graves Committee

Chairman

Gerald Runyan

The Revolutionary Graves Committee is responsible for registering Revolutionary graves with the National Society, updating information about Revolutionary graves already registered with the National Society, and placing SAR grave markers at Revolutionary graves.

Eagle Scout Committee

The Eagle Scout Committee is promotes participation in the Eagle Scout Recognition and Scholarship Programs.

Publicity and Public Relations Committee

The Publicity and Public Relations Committee stives to promote chapter name recognition. This committee is responsible for publishing the Thomas Nelson Jr. chapter newsletter "The Governor's Chronicle" six times per year. This committee also supervises the design, content, and currency of the Chapter web site located at www.thomasnelsonjr.org.

Public Service and Heroism Committee

The Public Service and Heroism Committee is responsible for promoting the recognition of outstanding individuals who serve our communities in a civic capacity.

ROTC/JROTC Committee

Chairman

Ken Wood

The ROTC and JROTC Committee is responsible for distributing information concerning the NSSAR ROTC and JROTC programs to school authorities and commanding officers of ROTC an JROTC units in Virginia colleges and high schools.

Veterans Affairs Committee

Ken Wood

The Veterans’ Affairs Committee is responsible for supporting veterans and their families.

Flag Committee

Chairman

 

The Flag Committee is responsible for promoting appreciation and respect for the United States and Commonwealth of Virginia flags.

DAR/CAR Committee

Chairmain

 

This committee is responsible for maintaining contact DAR/CAR officers, ecouraging support and involvement in these programs, and recommending awards as appropritate.
